Treating The Lazy Eye With Surgery
Some people have what is called squint. This is a problem of the eye known as strabismus. The other condition of the eye is amblyopic. These two disorders of the eye are termed as Lazy eye. Squint is a condition of the eye, where the person's eyes are not in perfect alignment. The normal expression used for this is crooked eye. Amblyopic eye is caused by an anomaly in the brain area associated with the vision. Correctness of laser eyes can be done through surgery, but the Doctor's advice is to always undergo Lazy eye treatment comes first.
When an eye is unable to coordinate with the brain and send the required image, it is called amblyopia. This is due to poor developed nerves. These nerves and nerve endings are unable to send out the proper signals to the brain. This may result from other conditions such as refractive strength that is very unequal in different eyes, Anisometropia, squint eye or cataract. The eyes develop vision that is very challenging. Surgery is performed in advance cases. Training is given to the patient to treat this condition with some exercises and medication. This method is better for kids and the success rate is higher in them.
There are other methods such as using corrective contact lenses or glasses. If these treatments do not work, then an intraocular surgery is performed in the case of conditions that need to correct the condition in the affected eye like amblyopia. When the affected brain center remains untreated, prognosis after surgery is unpredictable. The cataract needs to be removed by surgery, but eye training after the surgery, is necessary. Squint eye or strabismus is a disorder, which is caused due to the inability extra-ocular muscle to focus at one point.
Strabismus affects depths perception of the eye and if it is left untreated it can end up as the condition of amblyopia. If the condition is in an advance state, then vision therapy like dedicated surgery and the use of glasses and in some cases prisms are used in a combined format. The surgery for squint eye is quite common and is done for cosmetic purposes. The eye alignment will appear normal, but the vision of the person will not be completely cured. The surgery for changing the structure of position can be done by using adjustable, repositioning the eye muscles, strengthening them, or tightening them or weakening or losing the eye muscles.
Strabismus surgery takes a few hours. In this case, the patient is allowed to go home within a day. It is natural for there to be soreness and redness in the eyes for few days but can be managed with eye drops. There may be times you may have to undergo more than one surgery to correct the condition. For correcting vision, special eye exercise need to be performed regularly and the use of prism or corrected lenses is advocated. An orthoptist will help a lot to improve the quality fo vision in the case of lazy eye through therapy; young children should avoid this surgery. Adults may opt for vision therapy with the help of corrective lenses.
